If you’re tying the knot in July, you’re in good company: This summer month is one of the most popular times of the year for a wedding, and it's easy to understand why that's the case. The days are longer in July, meaning you’ll have hours of great light for photos, there are so many beautiful flowers in bloom, which makes choosing in-season buds for your arrangements simple, and the abundance of fresh produce means that a fresh, delicious menu is all but guaranteed. Plus, the fact that school is no longer in session and work hours tend to be more flexible means that most out-of-town guests will likely find it easier to travel to your event.
One of the best reasons to trade vows in July? There are so many gorgeous colors and color combinations inspired by the season that you can use to paint your affair. Punchy hues, such as coral, yellow, and pink, are naturally present in many of July's most beautiful flowers, so they lend themselves nicely to a cheerful and seasonally appropriate color scheme. On the other hand, understated tones, like an all-white color palette, are a timeless choice for summer celebrations, and that's true regardless of your chosen aesthetic.
Wondering how to choose the right color palette for your summertime ceremony and reception? We asked the experts to share their favorite colors for July weddings and how to integrate them into your special day. Whether you’re throwing a coastal fête or a backyard affair, these are the best color palettes for a wedding in July.

All-White Tones
An all-white color palette is one of the most timeless and versatile choices for weddings taking place any time of the year, and the same rings true for July nuptials. Shades of ivory, cream, eggshell, and similar hues provide a clean and sophisticated backdrop that screams summer, and that's true whether you’re celebrating in a ballroom or a vineyard. This monochromatic look is especially fitting if your wedding style leans more classic.
To bring this vision to life, wedding planner Deniesha Joseph of Fun Fete Fabulous Events suggests starting with an all-white base, which you can achieve by wrapping your floor in white carpeting and draping the walls in white curtains. Then, engulf your reception tables in white linens and line the center with white blooms and white taper candles. Simple place settings, featuring white plates, menus, and napkins, will round off the look. You can also enact this style at your ceremony by flanking your aisle with a hedge of white flowers and reciting your promises in front of an all-white arch.
Blue Hues
From turquoise to cyan, shades of blue remind everyone of picturesque coastal towns and carefree beach days. If you’re saying “I do” in a seaside ceremony this July, channel the hues found naturally in the environment. Of course, you don’t have to host your nuptials on the shore to select this color palette. For weddings in landlocked states, a celebration brimming in blue will transport your friends and family to Martha’s Vineyard or Big Sur, California.
To create a beachy vibe at your event, wedding planner Shannon Leahy recommends complementing the blue hues with a base of beige and cream and natural foliage and textures. Introduce guests to your aesthetic by mailing invitations featuring blue calligraphy and illustrations painted on white cardstock. Bring blue hydrangea, garden roses, and delphinium to your aisle, and pair those tones with hints beige by adding in plenty of pampas grass. At your reception, cover your tables in a runner of blue blooms, and set blue plates, napkins, and glassware against a cream tablecloth. You can add natural flair that's so reminiscent of the beach by finishing the table with rattan peacock chairs and woven chargers. Planner Tara Skinner suggests implementing blue throughout every detail, such as a bar covered in blue floral wallpaper, a lounge area with blue patterned pillows, and nautical light fixtures with blue shades.
Shades of Pink
Looking for a more playful color palette for your July wedding? Consider designing your celebration around a variety of different pink tones. Magenta, blush, peach, and other similar shades create an upbeat, energetic ambience that feels fitting for a middle-of-the-summer bash. You can bring the color palette to life by dressing your bridesmaids in pink gowns, exchanging vows in front of a deconstructed arch adorned with pink roses, engraving your dance floor with a pink crest, and cutting into a multi-tiered cake trimmed with pink sugar flowers. Joseph even loves the idea of requesting that your guests adhere to an all-pink dress code, which would make for amazing group photos.
While we love the idea of making one of these splashy hues the main moment (Barbiecore celebrations are trending), you can also pair pink tones with neutrals, like beige, white, metallic, or acrylic, for a more subtle effect.
Coral, Yellow, and Pink
If you’re interested in adding more colorful shades to your summer wedding, try pairing pink with coral and yellow. Since you’ll find many in-season blooms in these colors, this is the perfect palette for garden-inspired weddings taking place in the great outdoors. Carry a bouquet of orchids, dahlias, and daisies in these vivacious tones, and ask your wedding party to stand beside you in attire that represents this color palette. Have your guests find their table numbers on a seating chart decorated with illustrations in the trifecta of hues, and arrange floral centerpieces in pink, coral, and yellow. For complementary accents, consider bringing in greenery, metallic, and white tones through gold flatware, linens, and other accents.
Orange, Yellow, and Green
Another option that conveys a summery aesthetic is the combination of bright orange, tangy yellow, and lime green. “This palette reflects the vibrant and refreshing colors of citrus fruits, which are in season during July,” Leahy explains. “It exudes a lively and energetic atmosphere, perfect for a summer celebration.” By playing up the orange and yellow tones, infused with crisp white accents and greenery, you’ll also duplicate the colors of a breathtaking sunset.
Embrace these striking colors throughout your décor; they work surprisingly well both as a bold or pared-back combination. If you want to make these colors the main focus of your ceremony, line the perimeter of your walkway with orange and yellow flowers and greenery in white planters. Stationed beside white chairs and an ocean backdrop, these eye-catching hues will certainly stand out. Leahy also suggests adding oranges, lemons, and limes to your tablescape or choosing a tablecloth that boasts these colors. Conclude your celebration on a sweet note by serving a buttercream cake adorned with citrus-colored accents or fruit wedges. Bonus points if you choose a citrus flavor for your dessert. For a more understated approach, use the trio of colors as accents in an otherwise neutral palette.
Pink, Peach, Lavender, and Green
Since there are no rules regarding how many hues you can include in your wedding's color palette, go all out for your July nuptials with pastel shades of pink, peach, lavender, and green. When mixed together, these tones will generate an electric, animated environment that perfectly reflects the feel-good summer season.
One of the best ways to incorporate these hues into your celebration is through florals. Skinner recommends hanging a flower chandelier from the ceiling of a tented reception or stationing colorful floral arrangements in wicker baskets for a garden-fresh feel. Want everyone's attire to match the aesthetic theme of the day? Have your bridesmaids sport solid and patterned dresses in this color scheme, have groomsmen accessorize with similar ties, and ask guests to arrive in their favorite pastel looks. Skinner also loves adding these shades to your cuisine, such as signature cocktails served on trays lined with wallpaper or a buttercream cake with palette-knife artwork.
