If you’d love to smell the sea from your ceremony, consider the incredibly eye-catching Santa Monica Proper hotel, conveniently located blocks from the beach in downtown Santa Monica. With every single element designed by Kelly Wearstler, you know it will be a stylish spectacle.

There are multiple venue options in the 271-room and -suite property, depending on the scale of your wedding, from the elegant earth-toned, wood-accented Canela Ballroom with stunning lighting and its own foyer and elevator bank, to the lush, open-air Olea Garden Terrace. The textural rooftop Calabra Lounge is a lovely site for smaller celebrations or a rehearsal dinner, with the entire oceanview rooftop available for a full buyout, including the swimming pool and sundeck, cabanas, fire pit, and beautiful circular bar of teak and marble. The onsite events team helps customize every occasion, especially when it comes to the menu, highlighting California’s most in-season ingredients.

Pendry West Hollywood

New in 2021, this Martin Brudnizki–designed hotel on the Sunset Strip is nothing if not glamorous. The wow-factor is evident from the time guests pull into the black-and-white tiled motor court and spot the gleaming Cao Perrot tree made with thousands of Swarovski mother of pearl leaves. Inside, an incredible amount of vivid art ensures this is no run-of-the-mill venue, and fun touches abound, like the Moet Chandon champagne vending machine outside the lobby bar.

The ballroom is one of a kind, with standout pale-pink chandeliers and a California-chic foyer. For an al fresco celebration, there’s an outdoor garden terrace that can seat 100 guests at round tables or 120 for a reception. The rooftop, which holds the swimming pool and Wolfgang Puck’s Merois, is another wedding option, with Hollywood Hills views. Merois, with its tented feeling draped silk ceiling, chandeliers and colorful floor, is a fantasy setting that can seat 107 guests, while the rooftop pool bar or pool deck work for a glittery cocktail party. Foodies should note that all catering menus are designed by Wolfgang Puck.

With 149 guest rooms and suites in a luxe blue and gold palette plus a live music venue, there’s plenty of room for friends and family to gather and play for the weekend. Another event space is the Bowling Alley at Britely Social Club, with two private lanes and great possibilities for a welcome party. Wedding packages average $225 to 250 per person, plus rental fees.

There’s perhaps no more legendary hotel in Los Angeles than The Beverly Hills Hotel, which has been a beloved destination for Hollywood’s most luminous stars for more than a century. Holding your wedding on the 12-acre property means joining an elite club who’ve danced the night away in the iconic Crystal Ballroom after walking the red carpet up to the Pink Palace. The pink and green banana-leaf wallpaper has no doubt inspired the palette of thousands of “I do’s,” and the lush gardens around the grounds and aquamarine pool are the stuff of many brides’ dreams.

Beyond the ballroom, the Crystal Garden is an option for starlit soirees with palm trees providing a super-private feel. For any wedding, the culinary team goes all out, and the hotel’s Polo Lounge as well as other distinctive venues provide plenty of ideas and locations for additional events, too—think bridal party pampering at the new spa.

In an unexpected corner of Los Feliz is a newish boutique hotel that feels thousands of miles away. Cara Hotel is an idyllic little Eden in the city, an exquisite enclave for artisanal design, soulful artwork, and mouthwatering, hyperlocal cuisine. Hinoki & the Bird

Couples who are seeking something different from a ballroom, perhaps with an emphasis on food, will love this Century City restaurant, which has a very friendly wedding policy. They don’t charge a venue fee. Instead, the restaurant offers multi-course menus from $69 to $115 per head. For larger affairs, a full buyout comes with a food and beverage minimum of $17,500 to $25,000 (before service charge and tax) based on the season, party size, and day of the week. Their options include a private dining room, Indigo, for up to 30 seated diners, the entire patio for up to 120 seated or 160 for a cocktail reception, south patio for half that, and the whole restaurant for 160 seated or 250 for cocktails.

The venue itself is a magical environment with outdoor fireplaces and an open wood-structured ceiling that lets light pour in and the stars shine through. The patio floors are heated, and the retractable awning offers protection from any undesirable weather. Word to the wise: hire a planner to fine-tune all the details beyond executive chef Brandon Kida’s Silk Road travel–inspired cuisine.

Hotel Bel-Air

Your wildest dreams can come true at this iconic hotel in a wooded Bel Air canyon, with those famous swans on Swan Lake, a picture-perfect bridge, and an oval-shaped pool. Old Hollywood glamor is the go-to vibe, but it’s the kind of five-star resort where you can do pretty much whatever you wish—discretion has always been on the menu since it opened in 1946. Think barefoot dancing on the lawn under moonlight or lanterns strung from the trees.

Match a twinkling ceremony under the gazebo with the Swan Lake Suite (Grace Kelly’s favorite) for your first night as a married couple. For dinner and dancing, go for the Garden Ballroom, which seats up to 180 guests and features handmade mercury glass chandeliers and an elegant white arched ceiling. The larger Front Lawn hosts up to 240 or, if you’re planning a micro wedding, the Palm Room holds 30 for dinner and dancing. The hotel has a full catering and events team to align every detail with your grand vision.

Redbird

Those who have dined at chef Neal Fraser and Amy Knoll Fraser’s Downtown LA restaurant Redbird know its spaces are as special as the food and drinks. It sits inside (and outside) the former historic rectory of Vibiana, the cathedral next door, which makes a spectacular wedding venue as well for 175 or more guests. The dramatic architecture has been modernized, but it retains a sense of uniqueness and special energy that translates beautifully to a ceremony and or reception.

Beyond the main dining area, there are five private dining rooms, each with its own distinctive design and color scheme. There are also ethereal gardens in the back. All of which are available for customizable fetes that could bring together 20 to 120 loved ones. The garden is especially magical for an outdoor summer wedding lined by olive trees. It even has its own pizza oven. Wherever you choose, there’s little chance the modern American cuisine won’t blow your guests socks—or heels—off.

This quintessential Southern California hotel is all about customization for the big days it hosts/ There is only one per day on the property, so all the attention will be on you. There are incredible photo opportunities—think the rooftop helipad, where you could also schedule a private yoga class with your bridal party to limber up for all the dancing—and a wide array of delectable California-sourced cuisines to choose from. It’s also hard to ignore the stunning floral design by the celebrity-loved florist Jeff Leatham.

Venues vary, too, between the verdant oasis of the pool terrace that seats 80 and acts like a twinkling rooftop. The super-luxe Wetherly Pavilion tent can host 100 to 250 friends and family, or a classic ballroom with floor-to-ceiling palladium windows seats up to 250.

The hotel is full-service when it comes to micro or macro events, offering photography, spa and beauty services, and a dedicated wedding specialist. Packages start from $350 per person. The 285 bright rooms and suites with private balconies should be sufficient for your guests, and there’s even a floor dedicated to wellness, with state-of-the-art well rooms and suites just down the hall from the spa.

One of the oldest homes still standing in Los Angeles is Hollywood’s Victorian farmhouse–style Lombardi House, a beautiful slice of history that harks back to 1904. The restored and whitewashed stable and barn makes a heavenly ceremony setting—especially for those who love design—with its 35-foot vaulted ceilings and indoor-outdoor flow spilling out to green gardens. The estate can host up to 250 guests for a super-romantic fairy-lit soiree, catered by a handful of exclusive purveyors—think Bottega Louie, Urban Palate, Heirloom LA, and Taste of Pace. It’s also wonderful for a smaller affair, with up to 28 guests accommodated in the four recently renovated guest suites, which double as the perfect places to get ready for your big day.
