After you’ve exchanged vows and signed your marriage license, it's finally time to let loose and celebrate with your newlywed status with friends and family at the reception. The songs that you select and the entertainment that you hire for the second phase of festivities is largely responsible for determining the vibe of the party and bringing the energy. Beat-bumping music and a lively entertainer will quickly produce a packed dance floor, which always creates a more memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone in attendance. While most couples hire a local band or DJ to set the tone, others have turned to celebrities to start the party and maintain the momentum. Some stars have put on a show for another A-lister’s big day, but others have voluntarily performed for a fan—often free of charge!

From Ellie Goulding’s grand production at Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding to Taylor Swift’s surprise rendition of “Blank Space” at two Swifties’ nuptials, here are 15 celebrities who have performed at weddings.

Jennifer Hudson

In a clip that the Jennifer Hudson Show posted on September 30, 2023, the host of her eponymous talk show revealed that she crashed a couple’s wedding in Los Angeles—and proceeded to perform her hit 2008 song, “Giving Myself.” “We are here today at Traci and Pat’s wedding reception,” Hudson shared. “I’m here to surprise them. They have no idea that I am here.”

Once the bride and groom arrived at their reception site, none of their guests were there. The two of them then walked down a hallway until they saw their friends and family in another room. When Traci and Pat made their way to the front, a curtain immediately dropped, revealing the musician standing on stage behind a microphone. “Congratulations, Traci and Pat!” Hudson exclaimed. “And to all of y’all, this is for you!” She belted out “Giving Myself,” while the newlyweds beamed and danced along to the melody.
