Since René Hurtado has been a Taylor Swift fan for years, she always envisioned the pop star playing a prominent role in her wedding. After her boyfriend, Max Bochman, popped the question, the couple scored concert tickets to the singer’s Eras Tour show in Glendale, Arizona. At first, Hurtado considered eloping with Bochman before the production and then celebrating at the concert for their “reception,” Rolling Stone reports. Then, one of the bride-to-be’s friends suggested tying the knot while Swift was performing on stage. Hurtado loved the idea so much that on March 18, 2023, she and Bochman said “I do” while standing front row at Swift’s second show of her tour. “It was really thrilling and exciting,” Hurtado exclaims. “I’m so glad we did it. It was really special, and the timing during the concert was so beautiful.”
The couple showed up to the concert decked out in their wedding attire, with Hurtado in a white tea-length dress with side cut-outs from Anthropologie and Bochman in a black tuxedo from Indochino. While Swift performed “Seven,” they exchanged vows and shared their first kiss as newlyweds, according to the outlet. The next tune on the set list was “Invisible String,” which is a “very special song” to the couple. Hurtado’s maid of honor officiated the wedding. Since the bride and groom paid $1,000 for front-row tickets, the moment was even more meaningful. “We pretty much had the best seat in the house,” Hurtado says. “It was a really wonderful experience. Our section was so supportive and sweet to us when they saw what we were doing.”
After becoming husband and wife, Hurtado posted about the experience on TikTok in a five-part series. Each video has gone viral, gaining anywhere from 11,700 to 99,800 views. In her first video, Hurtado explains that her husband doesn’t like being the center of attention, so she focused on helping him ease his nerves. On the other hand, Hurtado was fueled by the excitement. “Anyone who knows me wasn’t surprised I wanted to do this,” she admits during the TikTok video. “I’m never normal. I’m always dramatic.” Based on the clip, the couple tried to hear the maid of honor conduct the ceremony while Swift performed, and other fans around them captured the moment on camera.
In the clip, Hurtado reveals that a member of Swift’s tour team approached the couple after they traded vows and gave them a guitar pick. As the biggest honor, the singer herself even liked a video that Hurtado posted about her engagement, which took place a year and a half ago. “She definitely is my whole life,” Hurtado gushes. “Any Swiftie would understand the need and want to incorporate Taylor Swift in your marriage. She has the best love songs that you dedicate to your spouse. She really is my life soundtrack and is very important to me.” Swift’s music has played a big role in the couple’s own love story, which has lasted for nine years thus far. While both of them love the musician’s Folklore album, Hurtado’s favorite song is “My Tears Ricochet,” and Bochman’s go-to track is “The 1.”
Since the duo just hosted a ceremony at Swift’s concert, they’re planning on throwing a larger reception with a hip-hop theme in March of 2024. Of course, the newlyweds will still incorporate the pop singer into their celebration. Hurtado says she will walk down the aisle to “Invisible String” and make her grand reception entrance while “Don’t Blame Me” plays.
During the first concert of Swift’s Eras tour, which took place on March 17, 2023, in Arizona, another couple also used the show to commemorate a milestone in their relationship. While Swift performed “Love Story,” a fan got down on one knee just when the artist sang the line, “He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring and said, ‘Marry me, Juliet,’” The Indian Express reports. Another fan captured the proposal and posted it on TikTok. The clip already has 11.9 million views.
