Whether you're talking about the couple or their guests, there’s no denying that royal weddings consistently deliver some of the best fashion moments of the year. Crown Prince Hussein's wedding to Rajwa Al Saif, which took place June 1, 2023, was no exception. One particularly eye-catching attendee? Kate Middleton, who showed up to the newlyweds’ post-ceremony banquet in style. The Princess of Wales sported a sparkly pink Jenny Packham gown for the festivities and accessorized with one of her favorite diadems: Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara.

The diamond-and-pearl headpiece has been a staple in Kate’s wardrobe over the years; the princess has actually sported this specific tiara on multiple occasions. According to Us Magazine, Kate was first spotted in the Lover’s Knot Tiara in 2015 at the Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace. At the 2018 and 2019 Diplomatic Receptions, Kate wore the crown, which features dozens of diamonds and 19 hanging pearls, once again. Most recently, Kate was seen wearing the bejeweled accessory in November 2022 for the first State Banquet of King Charles III’s reign.

The beloved sparkler is more than 100 years old. Queen Mary first commissioned the royal jeweler Garrard in 1913 or 1914 to create the crown, according to The Court Jeweller. Mary’s grandmother, Duchess of Cambridge Princess Augusta of Hesse, owned a similar crown, so the Lover’s Knot Tiara was a replica. Then, Mary passed down the sparkly hair accessory to Queen Elizabeth II, who lent it to her daughter-in-law, Princess Diana, Us Magazine reports. It reportedly became one of Diana’s favorite items to wear.

Before the newlyweds’ banquet, Kate was equally stylish for the bride and groom’s ceremony at Zahran Palace. For that portion of the celebration, the princess donned a light pink maxi gown with long sleeves and floral embroidery by Elie Saab. She topped off her look with statement earrings and a gold clutch. For the vow exchange, the princess didn’t wear a tiara. According to Saad Salman, who runs The Royal Watcher blog, tiaras weren’t part of the dress code for wedding guests. “More like black tie, long dress but no tiaras,” she tweeted on May 15, 2023.

Princess Beatrice also wore a special tiara for the Jordanian royal wedding. For the affair, the princess sported the York Diamond Tiara, a diadem that her mother, Sarah Ferguson, wore to her own royal wedding to Prince Andrew in 1986. According to The Court Jeweller, the Duchess of York received the item from Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip as a custom creation to wear on her wedding day. Unlike other royal wedding tiaras, this one was completely new. Fergie consistently wore the crown prior to her divorce in 1996, The Independent reports. Following the couple's split, the duchess had the opportunity to keep the accessory.

Beatrice used the diamond headpiece to top off her royal wedding guest outfit: a long-sleeved pink satin gown featuring gold jewels. This outing marked Beatrice’s first time wearing the York Diamond Tiara and her second time wearing a crown in public—her first being her wedding day in July 2020, when she wore the Queen Mary Diamond Fringe Tiara.
