Everything You Need to Know About Lindsay Lohan's “Falling for Christmas” Engagement Ring

Another fun source of engagement ring inspiration that’s often just as jaw-dropping? The small screen. In Falling for Christmas, a new romantic comedy that hit Netflix on November 11, 2022, Lindsay Lohan stars as Sierra Belmont, who gets engaged to boyfriend Tad (played by George Young) and receives a stunning diamond ring during the mountaintop proposal.

As it turns out, that ring is extremely special. According to the experts at UK retailer Steven Stone Jewelers, Sierra’s white gold engagement ring features a radiant-cut yellow diamond that’s anywhere from 12 to 15 carats. The center diamond is flanked by two trapezoids, which are a little less than one carat, the jewelry experts say. Leading diamond expert Maxwell Stone estimates that the ring costs a whopping $1 million. “Sierra’s engagement ring is magnificent and just the kind of bling you’d expect to see on the finger of an heiress,” Stone explains.

In the Christmas-themed romance, Sierra loses her memory following a skiing accident, which sadly takes place shortly after Tad pops the question. During the fall, her engagement ring slips off of her finger while Tad tries to keep his girlfriend from sliding down the hill. Sierra hits her head, and after the owner of a local bed and breakfast takes her to the hospital, she wakes up with amnesia. The film follows the heiress’s love story set in snowy Aspen, and it’s filled with the comfort and charm of the holidays.

This is Lohan’s first major film in over a decade, and although her acting career has taken a hiatus, her love life has really ramped up. After sparking dating rumors with Bader Shammas in February of 2020, The Parent Trap star announced her engagement to the finance worker on November 28, 2021. “My love. My life. My family. My future. @bader.shammas #love 💍 11.11.21,” she captioned a carousel of snaps. 

The Mean Girls actress’s own engagement ring isn’t as extravagant as her character’s, but it’s definitely eye-catching. According to Apeksha Kothari, COO of Rare Carat, her square-shaped center stone is estimated to be approximately six carats and cost about $250,000. Mike Fried, CEO of The Diamond Pro, told Page Six that the band is made of platinum or white gold.

On July 2, 2022, Lohan referred to Shammas as her “husband” in an Instagram post, and People confirmed their marriage. "🎂❤️🥰I am the luckiest woman in the world,” she wrote “Not because I need a man, but because he found me and knew that I wanted to find happiness and grace, all at the same time. I am stunned that this is my husband. My life and my everything. ❤️every woman should feel like this everyday 💖🙏.”
