The weather forecast for content creator Nitsan Raiter and Josh Fluxgold's seven-year anniversary wasn’t looking good: There was rain on the radar. “So Josh decided to pop the question early,” Nitsan says. “We had just moved in together in our dream apartment overlooking Lake Ontario. Josh sneakily got me out of the house and had a florist come in and set up the apartment with roses and candles everywhere—specifically the southwest corner, where the sun sets every night since he knows I’m a sucker for sunsets. I walked in to see white petals scattered leading into the main space. It was so beautiful!” Of course, as a content creator and founder of Mind Your Business, a platform for helps you turn social media into a business, she captured the moment for her followers.

Since then, their wedding planning journey has gone viral several times over, with moments like their engagement photo shoot and bachelorette party totaling more than 15 million views on TikTok. (Nitsan’s morning-of bridesmaids reveal garnered 8 million views alone.) Needless to say, the pressure was on for an epic wedding. “My vision for our wedding was based on an Italian-esque garden party,” Nitsan says. “I’ve had a photo saved on Pinterest for years of a wedding ceremony on the grounds of a villa in Lake Como.” She discovered Parkwood Estate on Instagram and saw a shocking resemblance to her Pinterest dream photo. “It was like an Italian escape inside the Greater Toronto Area.”

With the venue selected, it was time to turn to the details—and Nitsan was laser-focused. “Being Type A, I tried to be involved in everything from the string lights to the hair call time and schedule,” she admits. “I wanted it to be exactly how I envisioned it.” As the day drew closer, the couple’s parents stepped in to take big tasks off their plate so Nitsan and Josh could focus on their own preparations.

In the end, all her hard work paid off. Read on to see all the gorgeous details of their Italian-inspired September 2, 2021, wedding day, photographed by Will Reid.

“I wanted our wedding to be neutral and timeless, with shades white, green, and hints of black,” Nitsan says. A deckled-edge invitation suite set the tone.

Leading up to the wedding, “I did a few Forma sessions at Tight Clinic; the treatment uses radio frequency and heat to produce more collagen in the skin to tighten things up,” Nitsan explains. “My vision for my wedding day beauty was to be glowy and natural. We went for a bronzed glow to the face, neutral eyes with a soft brown liner smudged out, and a rosy lip.” The shade? Charlotte Tilbury’s aptly named Wedding Belles.

Finding her Galia Lahav gown was the easiest part of planning, Nitsan says. “The second I put on my dress it felt so ‘me,’ and I knew in my gut it was the one. I loved every little detail and could just see myself getting married in it. When you know, you know.” She worked with bridal salon White Toronto to create detachable sheer mesh sleeves. “I wanted to have my shoulders covered under the chuppah, but didn’t want to cover the dress with a typical shawl. We custom-created barely-there mesh sleeves that clipped onto the straps of my dress and sprinkled in the flowers from my dress down the arms.”

Josh opted for a a custom-notch lapel tuxedo, a Brioni bow tie, and Tom Ford shoes. “He wore green emerald Gucci cufflinks, gifted by me for the big day,” Nitsan adds.

“Josh and I decided to spend three days apart before the big day to allow for some deep reflections—and to miss each other and make the first look that much more exciting,” Nitsan shares. “It was definitely hard to do, but the anticipation really made our big day so much more special!” When they finally reunited, there were tears on both sides. “The second we saw each other, nothing mattered anymore. I was just so excited to get the night started and marry my best friend.”

Bridesmaids wore soft pink silk dresses by The Bar. “Each one was unique and custom to each girl because I wanted to make sure each one of them felt special and was able to make the dress her own and feel her best in it,” Nitsan says.

They kept to Jewish tradition by holding a Bedeken before the ceremony, but invited only immediate family and the bridal party to witness. “I’ve always dreamed of walking down the aisle and having our guests see me for the first time that way, so although less typical, a private Bedeken was the perfect solution for Josh and I.”

The grand garden venue didn’t require much in the way of florals, so the décor focus was on the chuppah. “I wanted a super beautiful and lush chuppah in the middle of the garden filled with white flowers on all sides,” the bride describes. “Guests were situated in a 360-degree arrangement on all sides of the chuppah, instead of just toward the front, to take advantage of the beautiful garden.”

“For the ceremony, we had singer Nathaniel Abitbol from DNA Entertainment sing us down the aisle; he was backed by a saxophonist and pianist,” Nitsan says. “I am originally from Israel, so it was important to have Israeli music be a part of our special day, and Nathaniel truly delivered. He has a beautiful voice and Israeli accent.”

The focus of their indoor-outdoor reception décor was a roof of twinkling string lights above white floral centerpieces and neutral-toned linens and place settings. White draping created a backdrop behind the long head table.

"Our reception grand entrance was the moment I’ve fantasized about every day leading up to the wedding, and it was everything I dreamed of,” Nitsan recalls. “It was to a song that was super sentimental to Josh and I and our eight-year relationship thus far: 'Shnei Meshugaim’ by Omer Adam.” From there, a DJ spun a playlist curated by the couple to get the energy up and turn it into a party.

The bride changed into a second look for the reception. “It was a silk strapless mini dress with matching silk gloves from the brand Redemption that I had been eyeing for months,” she says.

Their Italian honeymoon included a stop at the location that inspired it all: Lake Como (plus stops in Sicily, Portofino, Tuscany, Florence and Milan). There was plenty of time to soak up all the love and reminisce. “The energy and love we felt on our wedding day is something beyond what I have ever imagined,” Nitsan shares. “The best memories we had from our day had nothing to do with what we had planned and everything to do with celebrating life!”
