According to pros in the wedding industry, it's a fun time to experiment with shades ranging from light pinks to moody blues and greens.

"We will definitely see more color than usual this year as couple's experiment and take color hints from their venues,” notes Mary Baugh, VP of graphic design at Mariée Ami. "For example, a Texas Hill Country bride chose colors from the sunset at the venue as her inspiration, with lots of deep oranges and warm rose tones."

These shades will also be infused together in singular palettes to create even more visual intrigue in the design. "2023 wedding color trends will be marked by a dichotomy of deep saturation or the palest pastels,” says Lyndsey Moore, principal designer of Lynden Lane Co. Baugh adds, "Couples are also treating blue and green as neutrals and using complementary colors as accents."

Neutrals

While more vibrant colors will take the stage this year, neutrals are also having a major moment. “We're seeing a huge trend for colors in the taupe, nude, and blush family for our 2023 weddings,” shares Jung Lee of Fête. “Neutrals reflect the state of the world in fashion today. They blend well with any other colors as well as any wedding style. Neutrals give a beautiful, timeless, elegant look that can be threaded throughout their wedding, from the florals to the table settings and beyond.”

Greens

Going green is a trend both for couples looking to host more sustainable weddings and for those that want to add a popular color to the mix. "2023 wedding will see lots of greens," says Baugh. "From hunter to chartreuse, couples are incorporating different shades of the same hue for a modern, textured look everywhere from their paper design to reception decor." Moore echoes the sentiment. “Take olive green, for example—a color that provides an amazing contrast with both warm and cool neutrals, browns, and rusts, like pinot noir,” she says. “It’s an unexpectedly nostalgic shade on the opposite side of the color wheel. Olive also complements jewel tones.”

Dark Blues

“Speaking of dark, cobalt blue is sure to make a statement as the trending color for suites or personalized monograms hand painted on your invitations,” says Moore. “A similar yet richer shade, we also see indigo being used as a neutral of its own. It bridges the color palette between blue and black for those who want to embrace the darker colors this wedding season.”

Pinks

Looking to bring some whimsical romance to your celebration? Then, think pink for 2023. "Thanks to Barbiecore and the Pantone Color of the Year, we expect to see a lot of pink,” shares Moore. “However, our wedding trend picks opt for a nostalgic pink or rose pink. It's lighter, calmer, softer, sweeter, and the perfect pair to a playful, elegant aesthetic for your special day. We like to add some edge to anything that's too sweet, so if you opt for this pale pink in your mood board, feel free to compliment it with something bold and unexpected.”

Browns

Want to add a deeper contrast to your wedding design? "You'll be seeing brown as the new black for all generations,” notes Moore. "Chocolate brown plays well with the maximalism trend, and provides an experimental feel. We love it in a tablescape."
