“The Vampire Diaries” Star Michael Trevino Is Engaged! Learn All About His Christmas Eve Proposal to Model Bregje Heinen

Michael Trevino rose to fame while playing Tyler Lockwood on The CW drama The Vampire Diaries. Although Trevino’s character had a history of complicated romantic relationships on the hit show, the actor found his happily ever after off air. On December 30, 2023, Trevino and his fiancée, Dutch model Bregje Heinen, announced their engagement, which took place on Christmas Eve. “12 . 24 . 23 🤍💍,” they wrote. 

Along with the caption, the duo uploaded a carousel of images from the proposal, which appears to have taken place in Amsterdam. Each shot features a portrait of the newly engaged pair in the capital of the Netherlands, including one in front of the European city’s famous canals. A few of the photos highlight Heinen’s engagement ring, which looks like an oval-shaped solitaire diamond.

Many of Trevino’s The Vampire Diaries costars shared their well-wishes with the actor and his new fiancée. Candice King, who played Caroline Forbes on the show, commented, “YESSSS!!!! ❤️. Congratulations you guys!!!!!” Nina Dobrev, who starred as Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce, wrote, “🥰😍🥰🥰🥰🥰 so happy for you both!” Another cast member, Kayla Ewell, who was Tyler’s love interest in the series, Vicki Donovan, exclaimed, “You guys!!! So excited for you!! We love you!”

The following day, Heinen shared more photos from her trip to Amsterdam with Trevino. Many of the images showcase Heinen’s diamond engagement ring, including pictures taken in a photo booth, a close-up of her left hand resting beside a cappuccino, and a mirror selfie. Additionally, the model uploaded details from their getaway, such as images of the city decorated with Christmas lights, a snapshot of their hotel room, and a photo of a group meal at a restaurant. 

Trevino usually keeps his relationship with Heinen under wraps. For special occasions, such as their anniversary or one of their birthdays, the couple occasionally shares details about their romance on social media. For instance, when Heinen marked her anniversary with Trevino in January 2021, she shared a sweet tribute to her boyfriend by writing, “Couldn’t wish for a better partner! Life is more fun with you🙅🏼‍♀️🙅🏻‍♂️. Happy anniversary baby ❤️.” The duo has also taken their relationship a step further by collaborating with one another on a short film called Jo.
