Nearly a year after announcing her engagement to Rory McPhee, Melanie Brown, commonly known as Mel B, is making progress on her wedding wardrobe. The former Spice Girls member revealed to Extra on September 21, 2023, that she’s thinking about using a very special designer for one of her wedding dresses: Victoria Beckham. “I have asked her, so she’s up for it,” Brown shared. The bride-to-be also noted that she wants a wedding that lasts seven days and requires multiple outfit changes.

Brown and Beckham were both members of the English girl group—along with Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, and Melanie Chisholm—which formed in 1994 and quickly rose to fame. Brown, nicknamed Scary Spice, and Beckham, referred to as Posh Spice, were dubbed “frenemies” throughout the decades of their shared musical endeavors, but their friendship seems to have turned a corner. Brown has recently shown her support for Beckham by wearing pieces Beckham created for her eponymous label, which she launched in 2008.

In May 2022, Brown donned a Beckham original, a red midi dress, when she was named a member of the British empire. Brown expressed her gratitude for Beckham on Instagram. “My spice sister vic, I can’t thank you enough for your enormous generosity,” she gushed. “Not only did you dress me and my mum but you surprised me by actually being there to fit us…….it was just soooooooo special thanks to YOU and your fabulousness.” Brown also mentioned that Beckham even organized a dinner for the two of them and their respective families. “25 years of friendship and we still like each other haha I love you lots,” she ended the caption.

After three years of dating her future spouse, Brown and McPhee got engaged. While appearing on Celebrity Googlebox, Brown unveiled the details behind the surprise proposal, which took place on a getaway in Berkshire. According to the singer, McPhee had the space at Cliveden House decorated with rose petals. Once he got down on one knee, Brown recounted that McPhee said, “I love you, you're my best friend and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”

The pop star was previously married to Jimmy Gulzar from 1998 to 2000, and the former couple are co-parents to their daughter, Phoenix Chi. Then, from 2007 to 2017, Brown was married to Stephen Belafonte. The two of them share custody of their daughter, Madison. Since dating McPhee, Brown told The Daily Telegraph that she’s found a new level of confidence. “I’m so much calmer now,” she admitted.
